I'm considering buying a 2008 smart fortwo passion coupe. I want to know if there is a market for the car. I've KBB the car and got a 24% resell value. If you own a smart car tell me the pros and cons of owning it as well. Thanks a bunch!|||Very low. It is a crappy little car that gets poorer mileage than a Civic and costs more. And repairs are at Mercedes Benz prices. They depreciate like a rock dropped off a cliff.|||I don't own one, but I was serious about buying one recently and went to the dealer and drove one. I had rented them in Europe and thought they were fun and made economic sense. I found that in the US they are less than popular and the biggest complaints were not about size and safety, but about storage space and general overall quality. They are noisy, have a rough shifting transmission and have a hard time carrying anything bigger than a grocery bag. There are many cars on the market that get equal or even better fuel mileage and have room for two more passengers and cargo. So my experience in European cities was completely different than in suburban Southern California. I opted for a Mercedes 2 passenger SLK Roadster instead.|||Well, the fact that it has the worst warranty in the USA (2 years, 24K bumper to bumper) should tell you something.
It's a Chrysler/Daimler product, which means it generally sucks from a reliability perspective.
It does actually get decent safety marks for it's size, but it looks ridiculous.
It gets 41mpg on the highway, but requires premium fuel.|||I see a lot of them but in a wreck all the air bags in the world aren't going to keep you alive if a Humvee or Suburban hits you.
Any large SUV won't stop until it has driven completely over the top of a Smart.|||IMO, there is nothing 'smart' about a Smart Car... priced waaay too high, you will die in a shopping cart hits yous, and it gets the same, if not less MPGs than a Corolla...
