Spanner symbol on a Smart Car. What does it mean?

I've got a ForTwo Smart car and just recently I have been getting a single spanner icon appear on the display whenever I turn on the engine accompanied by a number (this case 28).

What does it mean and do I need to panic? Thanks|||The spanner indicates that something is due for a service. 28 may mean it needs one in 28 miles or is 28 miles overdue and this may change as you drive.

The 28 may be a fault code to tell you what needs looking at.

See a Smart dealer.|||The single spanner is sign that the car is ready for it's "A" service from your dealer. The number is the number of days (approximately) til the service should be done. There's no need for panic, it's simply the car's way of telling you it wants to go to the garage for it's regular maintenance.

It will also show two spanners when it's ready for it's "B" service, which is a more involved maintenance service.|||probably means you are due for maintenance. is it time for an oil change? maybe you need an air filter or fuel filter. ive never dealt with a smart car personally, but a call to the dealer would probably help you. they can tell you what the code means, its importance, and they could even schedule a service for you|||it means you must be a bit of a spanner for buying a smart (how do they get away with calling it that as it plainly isnt)|||seems like youll need to look at your manual

as it might be a repair

  1. Hello,
I've got that single spanner flashing. But it only started flashing after I had a full service and Mot done in the garage. So so do I ignore it or what?
