i have been looking at a smart car to buy and i asked the guy at the dealership how much it will cost for an oil change. he said $100 because of its special oil or something. is this true?|||Mobil 1 is what to use. That is the dealers price and it's robbery. There are alternatives.

Oil is Oil - it comes out of the ground just like any other brand. The filter itself may cost a bit more, because the car is new, but other than that figure it should cost the same as any other car. Why not ask an oil change place?|||Looks as though they are using a 5W30 synthetic oil, manufactured by mobil 1.
There is no way I would go to the dealer for service. uses 3.75 quarts of oil. with a filter change.
so if you bought that oil at a shop it would be around $7-12 a quart, plus the filter. Labour not more than $15 i would say it is under a $50 oil change at any other shop, dealership door rate and fancy inspection is why it costs more.
