How does the transmission in a smart car work---mechanical info?

would like the mechanical info on the smart car transmission exactly how it works|||For all of your questions having to deal with smart cars and/or their transmission go to www.smartcarofamerica.com

I'm Neonspinnazz there...|||It works like any other automated Manual transmission.

Its a manual transmission without the clutch pedal, it has a clutch, but the tranny works the clutch automatically without you having to push a 3rd pedal.

hope this helps|||Its made in partnership with Mercedes so the manual works very smooth and seamlessly and is great for the money. It has a low ratio because you never go over 90mph so the gears are pretty tight but not un comfortable to shift.|||The throttle and shifter and clutch are controlled by computer driven servos. The servos are rotational rather than linear. You might want to search this out on the Smart Car owners website for technical details.
