Smart Car?

i am 15 and will be 16 next year, and was told by the docter at my last physical that i would probably end up being around 6'3 but i really like the new smart cars and wanted to know if i would be too tall to drive one, if you have any info on them though that would be great too, like their top speed and stuff like that, thanks|||I am 6'2 and have no problem driving my Smart Car. If I sit straight up, my head touches the shade for the moon roof, but only a little. There are a few things to think about before buying one though; one is the fact that it only sits two. The acceleration isn't anything to brag about, but it will move if you have it in the manual setting and learn how to shift at the right time. Also, the gas mileage is actually better than I have read, about 45-50 mpg with mixed hwy/city driving. The crash ratings are surprisingly good; there are airbags everywhere in addition to a reinforced frame and tons of other safety features. Smart is made by Mercedes so the quality is outstanding, especially noticeable on the inside with features like automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers, heated leather seats (optional), etc. I don't have any specifics regarding performance, I can only tell you my experience: I've gotten up to 90 so far with little effort, and it doesn't shake at high speeds. The turn radius is ridiculous, you can almost spin in a circle! It鈥檚 the most fun I've had in a vehicle in a long time. One thing you have to be aware of though, if you drive it in a city that doesn't have too many of them yet, you will gain a little instant fame. I get people stopping me in parking lots and gas stations to talk about it and I get more smiles and waves from other drivers on the road than in anything else I've driven, it just takes some getting used to.

The only thing I would warn you about is the transmission. It takes a little adjusting from driving an automatic to this tripmatic or whatever it's called, but after a little while, you get used to it and it feels natural.

Go to smartusa.com for more info and to order one. If you don't want to wait more than a year to pick up your car, call the dealerships in your area and ask about their "orphans" which is what they call the cars that people order and then don't want to buy. Some dealerships have waiting lists you can get on, others are first come first serve so you can just go down to the lot and get lucky that the one you want is sitting there, but good luck these things sell out like crazy!|||I'm not one to admires the smart car, it can accommdate tall people, but the best advise is to go to the dealer and sit in one, see how it feels. You can look online for details on the engine specs and other items. I for one am over 6ft and drive a suv, but you need to ask yourself, is a 2 seater car really what I need? I know your 15, but in the long term will it be a car that can handle moving items around, stuff like that.|||Smart prides themselves on the interior size. 6'4" is the limit according to Smart. You sit really upright in the vehicle in order to maximize the small space.

Some simple specs:

Engine: 1.0L 3cyl 70hp engine

0-60mph: approx. 14.5sec

Top Speed: 90mph

MPG: 33city/41hwy

Base Price: $11,560 (well equipped: about $15,000)

The Smart ForTwo has a great presence, but if you want something that is just as good on gas, offers a back seat and costs the same, look at the Toyota Yaris, Scion xD or Honda Fit.

Good Luck!|||Smart cars are a total waste of money. For the same money you can buy a Honda Fit which will have twice as much room, plenty of cargo space, it will get 37mpg and it will out handle and out accelerate the Smart... and yes even at 6'3" you will have no trouble getting inside the Honda Fit.|||well dont fret i have a uncle that is 6'5" all you really need to do is modifyy the seat brackets

you take the middle section

he has a cooper that we had to dang near put the seat on the floor

so that will fix the head room but the leg room is another issue because it may require moving the seat belt ancor (because your moving the seat back)and the only way i see doing that in that car is to add a bracket or build a cage

best bet is to just head down to the dealership and try one out for size

like i said headroom is a easy fix but ave a problem with leg room you may want to loook elsewhere

goodluck|||you should be goo, but they aare around 25-30K$(us) but get like 42 MPG.

EDIT:

I said 25-30K$ b/c of demand but the price is-$11,560 (well equipped: about $15,000)|||Best thing you could do is go to a dealership and see for yourself. On a side note, although Smart cars get good mileage, they take premium fuel, which is pretty pointless if you ask me.|||go to a dealer ahd check the car out
