those new smart cars... the really small ones, does anyone own one? i heard they were electric. does anyone know if they are fully electric? are they safe? how much do they cost? is it a good invesment?

this car

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co鈥?/a>|||They are not electric.

They have a 3 cylinder gas engine with arond 80HP.

They are made by Mercedes Benz.

The small Smart is called the Smart Fortwo.

The base price is $11,000.

But it only gets up to 40mpg highway, which is the same as some bigger better cars like the Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, Nissan Versa, and older Mazda Protege's.

They failed crash test ratings.

It is not a reliable car since it is made by Mercedes.

It is also way too expensive for what it has to offer.

It is not worth it.|||1. They aren't electric. The engine is a 1.0 L, 71 HP, 3 cylinder engine.

2. They are safe for such a small car. It's all reinforced steel, Full-size driver and passenger airbags, Head/Neck side airbags.

3. The pure starts at $11,590.

4. No car could be considered a "good investment", but for less than $12k it's not a huge investment.

My 2 cents, I test drove one and the transmission sucks. It takes at least a full second to change gears. I couldn't drive it everyday it would drive me nuts.|||My family owns one, they are really popular in Germany. They are not electric but dont use up a lot of gas like the hummer! They are a pretty safe car for experienced drivers, but not an ideal first car. You should try avoiding using them on highways and try and use them in the streets. There also is a smart roadster and smart 4 seater. The price range varies but you can get one for 11,000.

Questions: MTPLAYER99@AOL.COM|||Smart is owned by Mercedes and the parent company admits to the Smart brand incurring losses of 拢250 ($500) million a year! That should give you a idea of what the car buying public think of it.
