What is so special about the smart car?

I had heard about the smart car and i was wounder what is special about it.|||The Smart is inexpensive to buy and maintain (if you do your own routine maintenance like oil changes). It will get 40 city and 50 highway mileage if conservatively driven, will cruise at freeway speeds, handles like a go cart, and will park anywhere. Fun to drive and unique, as well as having a 5 star safety rating.|||It was designed to be the same length as a typical car is wide, so it could be parked at right angles to the curb, just like a motorcycle. The small size makes it a very efficient, easy to park inner city vehicle. They are very popular in large European cities. With a small turbo diesel they get exceptional mileage as well. The US version is gas only, which is unfortunate.|||If you're talking about the Mercedes model, it's tiny and very efficient. Makes a nifty shopping cart.
