Smart Car?

Would the smart car (Convertible) make for a good first car for a teenager (16)? Is it safe? Also... is it a manual or automatic? Is it slow? Thanks,|||I dont know about that, being good for a 16 year old. I hear they are quite safe believe it or not. They are really, really small though. Normally teens want to haul around their friends around but you cant do that with a Smart. The Smart convertible is a cute looking car, but not very masculine in my opinion.


I think it can have both along with a CVT transmission. And yes its slow.


If I were you I would go with like a Nissan Verse. Its bigger. more powerful, more useful, a fully loaded Verse is still cheaper then the Smart and Most interestingly it gets only one or two mile less per gallon then the Smart car. So unless you just really want a Smart, I would go for something like the Nissan Verse or a Honda Fit.|||Yes it is good for a first driver because it is cheap. $11,000 base price. $17,000 with all options.

You should know it is calles the Smart Fortwo, not Smart Car.





Smart makes 3 different cars, but America only has one, the Fortwo.





Mercedes Benz owns the company Smart, so they are not reliable in the long run and they are expensive to fix.|||It's price is good for someone like you, but there are some cars that are priced the same for more room and performance(Honda Fit, Nissan Versa, etc.). It's also a slow car(0-60 in around 15 seconds). It's 70 hp engine is mated to a 5-speed manual. Is it safe? Some people say it's safe, but it only weighs about 1500 pounds, so maybe not.|||It's zero to sixty is about 14 seconds, which is what most cars can do their quarter mile in. So yes, it's slow.

Is it safe?? It's like a two seater motorcycle with seatbelts, it weights about 1200 lbs.





I leased a new honda civic for my first car and the monthly payments were only 219. I'd reccomend it to any sixteen year old!|||it seems that it is a very safe car (and that would make your parents happy!!) but since it is so very new, it is undoubtedly glitchy, so i wouldn't jump on one just yet..|||Its adorable BUT


In a accident with a SUV- the SUV would win every time|||It probably breaks down at the drop of a hat, but I LOVE them|||they are not that new!! they have been in europe for a long time. but i don't think you should get one.
