it's cute and very very popular.
it's very small, have you seen one in person.
it's just the most popular thing on the road.
They are like magnets, people flock to them. wave at you, ask million questions about them.
they are not great on the hwy, best for short trips.
you can get a real car, Honda fit for nearly the same amount of money.
when the VW bug came out in the 60's it was the same way, everyone wanted one. It was cool.
they have a waiting list because they are selling faster than they can make them.
The smart fortwo is a small two-seat city car that is being sold on the U.S. market for the first time in 2008. A division of the Mercedes Car Group, a Daimler AG company, smart cars can be seen throughout major cities in Europe and Canada with a total of 770,000 smart fortwos having been sold in 36 different countries.
Power comes from a small, rear-mounted three-cylinder engine that Smart claims will deliver 40 mpg.
it has a very strange 5-speed "automated manual" gearbox, which can shift on its own or be shifted via paddles behind the steering wheel. It's very clunky and choppy until they equip it with a bona fide manual transmission or a good automatic I'd wouldn't recommend anyone buy one.
when I see one on the road from a distance, I wonder what the hell is that and then up close, it makes me smile sometimes laugh so they are good for something|||You know you guy's ought to try one before you go and just assume that it is junk. I have one and yes, it isn't a family car, and no it doesn't haul stuff like a truck, but on the other hand it's great for short hauls to the the doctor, store, movies, walmart, ugh, and the liking.

|||The Smart car is a 2 passenger vehicle built by a subsidiary of Mercedes Benz. It has a 70hp 3 cylinder engine and is primarily designed for the Urban European market. It offers about 40mpg and looks cute, so of course it is the latest rage here. It has some serious drawbacks though:
-over priced
-2 seats only
-premium fuel
-unsure reliability (Mercedes in general has poor reliability)
-unsure resale
-high parts/labor rates as serviced at Mercedes dealers ($100+ hr)
-loud and under-powered motor
-sloppy transmission
-will be second best in most any collision
-jarring ride|||They are not hybrid's the are a fad. They are way over priced and they don't get that good of a gas mileage for the risk you take every time you drive it.|||They're some kind of hybrid I think. But don't buy one. They're a death trap. One crash would kill you
